Mission
To work toward preventing or ending violence and abuse against women and girls through education.
Vision
Stronger communities where there is equity and accessibility to education for ALL women and girls, thereby resulting in brighter futures for many girls and the wider community.
Why education?
WAGE believes that by validating the power that girls and women already possess and allowing them to see that they can drive their own destiny, we can help them leave domestic violence situations or prevent them from ever entering into one.
Why girls and boys?
WAGE believes that by bolstering self-esteem in both girls and boys, there will be less victims and aggressors. Plus, keeping girls safe and ensuring that they all have access to an education is the responsibility of all. We should note that some of our mentoring programs are designed for only girls, including one we hosted specifically for female athletes.
How does it work?
WAGE seeks to raise awareness about violence against women and engages its associates and volunteers with community organizations that are working with girls and women to educate and prepare them for careers and employment, and on other initiatives to help recognize and overcome abuse. It also works toward developing educational resources for everyone to better understand why women’s rights benefit everyone in society. In addition to domestic programs, we partner with eight other countries in Africa, Asia and Europe - that list continues to grow.
